Divorces today is becoming alarming, more so when the reasons given are flimsy, which could have been settled amicably. That’s why celebrity marriages don’t last more than few months.
In Nigeria, the case is a bit different because of the African culture which usually does not allow a wife to leave her husband, even if the husband proves to be a monster. In other to avoid shame and humiliation from the society, the African woman could bear maltreatments, most especially for the sake of the children and for …

Do you ever wonder what you’re missing when you watch Foreign Films? Sometimes it seems like you’re looking too deep, and sometimes you feel like you’re not interpreting anything deeper at all. Neither way is wrong. You can’t look too deep, and not all foreign films are made to be interpreted. If you see something that you think can be interpreted, it probably can, so forget the question of “How do I know if I’m supposed to interpret that?”. Instead, “How do I interpret that?” is a far more reasonable …

The genius of the past decays remorselessly into the routine of the present, and one example is the downfall of the caper picture. The classic caper genre had rules set in stone. It began (1) with an impregnable fortress (vault, casino, museum, or even Fort Knox). Then we met (2) a group of men who hoped to impregnate it. There was (3) a setup about the defenses of the fortress, and (4) a chalk talk in which the mastermind told the others what they were going to do and how …

Had I not been reviewing Beyond Remedy (2009) I’d probably have turned it off within minutes. Still, someone’s gotta review it and so I stuck it out for what seemed like an eternity so that I could give caution to you guys. Actually, I was almost glad that I did ‘cos it did pick up a little towards the end and although I still didn’t rate it, I feel sure that it might appeal to a fair percentage of viewers.
Basically, a group of medical students, each suffering from their individual …

There have been some fantastic cars that have featured in movies over the year from the normal to the outrageous. These are some of the ones that I personally like.
Herbie
I do believe that this one is worth a mention and this is because of all the films that have actually come out of the huge franchise. Although the latest addition starring Lindsay Lohan wasn’t the best of the bunch it certainly wasn’t the worst and brought massive amounts of cash back into the franchise. Faster than Audi Leasing?
Ecto- 1

In the year in which we’re celebrating the bicentenary of Charles Darwin’s birth and the 150th anniversary of the first edition of On the Origin of Species, it’s a pity that no one has mounted a season of movies touching on his life and work. The centrepiece would be Jon Amiel’s admirable if somewhat mistitled Creation (2009), adapted by the novelist, doctor and former Observer medical correspondent John Collee from Randal Keynes’s book Annie’s Box.
It could begin in a lighthearted vein with the Marx Brothers’ movie Horse Feathers (1932), which …

Jane Campion; Ben Whishaw, Abbie Cornish. Rating: * * * * *
Watch Online Bright Star (2009), featuring Ben Whishaw and Abbie Cornish, is an exquisite piece of film-making by Jane Campion.
Director Jane Campion has a knack for portraying female characters so intimately that she seems to get beneath their skin. She does it again in Bright Star, an exquisite piece of film-making about the doomed romance between the poet John Keats and his neighbour Fanny Brawne.
The story of their slow-burning affair, which was halted by Keats’ succumbing to tuberculosis, …
